Use and description |
Cetrorelix acetate is the acetic acid salt of cetrorelix. A gonadotrophin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist, it is used for treatment of infertility and of hormone-sensitive cancers of the prostate and breast. It has a role as a GnRH antagonist and an antineoplastic agent. It is an oligopeptide and an acetate salt. It contains a cetrorelix.
Cetrorelix acetate is a synthetic decapeptide, which is mainly used in assisted reproductive technology to prevent premature ovulation in patients with controlled ovarian stimulation. It is a gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonist that can compete with endogenous LHRH to bind to receptors on the pituitary cell membrane, thereby inhibiting the secretion of luteini’zing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) by the pituitary in a dose-dependent manner. |
